History and Experience
Daniel Tuutau is originally from Los Angeles, California. He graduated from Hollywood High School Performing Arts Academy and as a child performed and toured internationally with the Los Angeles Children’s’ Chorus. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music and a Masters in Music for Vocal Performance from the University of California at Santa Barbara. He recently completed a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance from the University of Utah.
During his college education, he performed with the University of Utah’s Lyric Opera Ensemble as Pandolf in Massenet's Cendrillon, Don Magnifico in Rossini's La Cenerentola, the Count in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro, Mr. Ford in Verdi’s Falstaff, Papageno in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, Reverend Olin Blitch in Carlisle Floyd’s Susannah and as the title character in Mozart’s Don Giovanni. His other opera roles include Guglielmo (Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte), Stefano (Donizetti’s Viva La Mamma), and The Duke of Plazza-toro (Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Gondoliers). He has also been active in the Chorus for Utah Opera, performing in their productions of Cosi fan tutte (Mozart), Les pêcheurs de perles (Bizet), Die Entführung aus dem Serail (Mozart), and Turandot (Puccini). His favorite musical theater roles include Seymour (Little Shop of Horrors) and Albert (Bye Bye Birdie). He has toured internationally with the UCSB Chamber Choir, including a tour to France for a historic collaboration with La Maîtrise Notre-Dame de Paris (The Choir School at Notre Dame in Paris).
He lives in Salt Lake City with his wife, Brandy, and their four children.
